This is old News and relates to the first stage of development, we have upgraded and added a new improved bidding system and some old content will have less relevance.
It’s been a difficult summer having lost my father amongst other things that have been sent to try us. We have worked hard in between running Tooltique and uploaded 300 good-quality tool lots for this relaunch of Antiquetools.co.uk.
You can preview the lots here
It’s not a massive tool auction but instead, one that has carefully selected tools that have been examined thoroughly by myself in detail. There are more images taken in these 300 lots than any traditional auctioneer would take for 4/5 times that amount of lots. The reason for this is to ensure buyers can see clearly what they are bidding on without any doubts. This is what I expect when buying anything online and I’d say this really helps buyers when making decisions on a their valuation of goods.
Sellers too, want their goods to be represented properly online, especially when it comes to auctions!
Importantly we represent a new way and a step beyond the usual approach made by many auctioneers who use online with secondary software with additional charges and controls. Buyers will be judged on progress as they are the ones that will determine whether detail is important when buying online! I know it’s less important with some goods that are cheap and the detail doesn’t matter for general replicated maker’s products but outside that where the detail is important, more information is certainly required.
This tool auction comes from a standing start but I’m happy with the fact we have delivered what will certainly be the first of many tool auctions. These will, in time, improve in a variety of ways and numbers along with the website functionality and information itself.
Rome, as they say, wasn’t built in a day and this website has been testing with its development which is still ongoing with plans, so it’s not just using our time to concentrate on listing tools at this point.
A steady flow of new members is joining the website now and there are many visiting the website daily so our marketing is working well.
All the tools listed here this September are fresh to the market, Vintage user-grade tools are often boxed and have seen very little use and there are some stand-out antique items that are either in high demand or desirable where collectors are concerned.
The countdown has started on all the lots and on Thursday evening of the 16th of September, the lots will switch from their current countdown state to a bid and watch live state. Every bid is handled in a proxy bid system just like every good timed auction system and is simple to manage from your My-Account area.
As buyers win their lots the cart is updated so that buyers can easily monitor their spending, this includes the buyer’s premium and when buyers finish purchasing they can checkout just like any other e-commerce platform. You can choose either collection (within 7 days) or shipping methods depending on what is best for your needs.
Everything is now set full, happy bidding, and good luck to all our members!
Regards Steve
